A slightly delayed welcome back to you all!

This summer has been, by all accounts relatively quiet with no major changes to buildings and no major refurbs. On the other hand, we have welcomed 15 new boarders to Woodcote at the start of term which makes life busy and certainly a big adjustment period for the boys concerned. The biggest news is the ban of mobile phones which I believe will help the boarding house considerably and, I hope, encourage boys to interact with one another and thereby enhancing their boarding experience. With all changes there are always some teething problems, but I hope to have put this right by the end of the week.

Sunday activities kicked off with a Woodcote fire where the boys rather successfully created their own chips on a huge fire they had made themselves. I was delighted with the results, and somewhat relieved that the boys followed instructions carefully avoiding any disasters!

Evening activities will run as normal apart from the introduction of Nutrition Ninjas on a Thursday – a chance for the boys to improve their culinary skills in addition to the paid activities there will be an eclectic mix of in –house sessions offered by the staff.

The Boarding House has a few potential updates in the future, starting with the arrival of a 55inch television for their common room, allowing the old television to be moved into the junior dorms where a snug will be created, I am sure the boys will be happy!

If any non- boarding parents out there are reading this please feel free to get in contact if your son would like to board, there is room in some year groups and I will be happy to sign your son up!

In the meantime, let’s hope the term continues on a smooth path.
