Boarding at Woodcote

Woodcote House, situated in the Surrey countryside, offers an idyllic environment in which to live, learn and grow.  However, ‘environment’ is mostly about the people you spend time with and the atmosphere they help create; the pastoral and teaching staff at Woodcote are dedicated professionals committed to making boarding a positive, enjoyable and rewarding experience

Boys can begin boarding from the age of seven and 75% of boys at Woodcote are Boarders.  There are 11 dormitories of different sizes in the main school, with Matrons’ rooms strategically placed near each group of dormitories.  Prospective Boarders are welcome to spend a night or two in a ‘dorm’ to sample boarding before they start school.  This can be a useful opportunity for parents to organise school uniform which is available from our own School Shop in the grounds.

Boys have access to three landline telephones at the school and have their own email address, and boys who live abroad lodge their mobile phones with the Matrons for use in the evenings and at weekends.  During term times parents can come and visit during matches on Wednesday and Saturday afternoons whether their sons are representing the school or not, and join the school for Chapel on Sunday mornings.  Leave out on birthdays or for other special occasions is of course permitted.

“Woodcote is great fun. I love the sport, especially football, riding and golf. The teachers are fair and are always around to help in the evenings and at weekends; they make lessons interesting and I feel confident about Common Entrance and going on to Public School. Best of all I have made masses of great friends.”

With 30 acres of ‘back garden’, an indoor swimming pool, games room, rope assault course, library, ICT suite, and tennis courts our Boarders have a wide range of facilities on site and plenty of supervised free time in which to enjoy them. ‘Boredom’ simply isn’t a word in our dictionary!
