A Day Boy at Woodcote

Day Boys can start at Woodcote from the age of seven (Year 3) and above. They would normally be expected to stay until the end of Year 8, taking Common Entrance or Scholarship at 13+.

They arrive at school by 8.30am and are picked up at 6.00pm, or at 7.10pm if they have been involved in early evening activities, in which case they will have had supper with the Boarders.

There is no extra charge for this, and all `Prep' will have been done at school, after Assembly and Registration and before the start of morning lessons.

Their life is a busy one, but with plenty of breaks to let off steam between the daily programme of lessons and sport during which Day Boys are able to join in all the activities and make use of all the facilities available to the Boarders.

There is Saturday morning school most weeks, finishing at 12.30pm, when Day Boys would normally be collected, though those selected for teams stay for lunch and play in school matches in the afternoon. However at Exeat weekends and Half Term - three or four times a term - Day Boys go home at the same time as the Boarders, 12.00pm on Friday, returning to school after the weekend.

There is no compulsion for a Day Boy to transfer to board, but most like to do so at some point, particularly if they are to board at their Senior School. To this end we offer free boarding trials over three weekends each term to those who are considering it.

Day Boys can stay overnight on Fridays, having a bed allocated to them in dormitories with their friends amongst the Boarders. They can then enjoy the activities and entertainments that are a regular feature of Friday evenings.
