Music and Drama
Music has a special place at Woodcote and the vast majority of boys (currently 80%) have weekly lessons in at least one instrument. Daily practice is scheduled into the timetable so that boys make good progress and remain motivated. Music theory is taught to those aiming for music scholarships to their Public Schools, and we are proud of the number of Woodcote boys who win such awards each year.

We have an Orchestra and a Choir, who perform at concerts and sing each Sunday at services in our ‘Chapel in the Woods’. Boys are also encouraged to form bands and to compose their own material.
Prospective parents are invited to put their sons forward for the discretionary Headmaster’s Music Awards each spring.

2009 Recent productions include ‘Camberwick Green’, ‘Ali Baba and the Lost Boys’, and ‘Oliver!’
Drama too is an important part of school life, helping to build self-confidence and foster teamwork. All boys have the opportunity to be involved musically, dramatically and practically in the school’s twice yearly productions.
