Welcome back and I hope that you all had an enjoyable and restful Christmas break.
The boys certainly seem to have recharged their batteries and have come back full of energy. I am happy to report that the heating is behaving itself and we are prepared for the Arctic Blast that is apparently about to engulf us. Without wishing to be a killjoy, I do hope that the forecasts of snow are over-exaggerated as, after the initial novelty and excitement have worn off, options outside are pretty limited.
This term we welcome 2 new matrons, Miss Julia & Miss Tory from Australia, and a new groundsman, George Sales from S. Africa. They are all looking forward to seeing snow for the first time – let’s hope they are disappointed!
The highlight of the term will undoubtedly be the new theatre’s first major production, which is an adaptation of the musical Sweeney Todd. Auditions have already been completed, the cast chosen and I am certain that it will be a huge success under the very capable direction of Oliver Paterson. I hope that as many of you as possible will come to watch it – the two performances will be held at 2.30pm on Sat 18th and Sunday 19th March.
On the sporting scene, the first rugby matches are approaching and once again the RFU in their wisdom have decided to make significant changes to the laws at junior levels. I note that I am down to referee some of the 1st XV matches which is somewhat alarming to say the least. The saying ‘old dog and new tricks’ springs to mind and, for those eagle-eyed experts on the touchline, I ask for your patience and understanding!
Perhaps snow would be welcome after all!
